Treasure Your Pearls

Pearls are organic gemstones that are vulnerable to acid, alkaline and chemicals. To preserve your pearls' radiance, avoid direct contact with pearls on perfumes, hair products and makeup.

Maintenance Tip

Even if you don't wear your pearls often, we recommend that you have your pearls restrung every year.

Pearl Storage

Store pearls in a silk jewelry pouch or velvet lined drawer to avoid scratches. Never store your pearls in an airtight environment such a a zip lock bag, which will cause them to become brittle and lose luster. Enjoy them frequently so they don't become dehydrated. There is a saying that "pearls want to be worn," and it is true!

Cleaning Pearls

Water is okay to clean pearls individually, but soaking pearls in water will weaken the silk thread holding the strand together. If pearls come in contact with perspiration, wipe clean with a soft cloth before storing. Ultrasonic cleanser should never be used with pearl jewelry as it can damage the pearls.

“A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls."
